I have tied this around the box with hemp twine. Inside were some lovely mini M&Ms.

We had a lovely day doing punch art and making lots of different embellishments to use on our cards.

Next month we will be doing "Colour Inspiration" and I will show you how a colour wheel can be your best friend when you are making cards or scrapbooking. If you would like to join us please call or email me and I can add your name to our mailing list.Jane Norrishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11729952567436299570noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3332305726094781553.post-31901579083895123552010-01-31T16:55:00.004+10:002010-01-31T17:13:27.241+10:00ESAD ChallengeI am a member of the ESAD (Extremely Special Australian Demonstrators) Yahoo group and I am ashamed to say I am a bit of a lurker.

BUT.... my New Year's resolutions were to overhaul my blog (in the process) contribute more to the group, to enter the challenges and to be more organised. Some very kind ladies did swap with me though and their returns are on their way. Luckily my swaps were Christmas themed so I can mount them up and use them for my Christmas cards this year. When one door closes another one always opens.

Had a fabulous time at Regionals, caught up with some lovely people and enjoyed the make and takes and Workshop Wow's. Get out your diary and write in under Saturday 26th September that you are joining us at Burleigh Town Tavern for Stampin' Up! a Storm. Petronela Hardy and myself have put our heads (and the rest of our bodies) together to bring you a day of stamping, fun, prizes and lots more to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Assoc of Qld. Stampin' Up! have donated some wonderful goodies which we will be raffling on the day to raise even more money.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 283px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1N1bsjU1hCqtoQPufzpQFoxLJB-R17wWPYRLYAEtYOlJxH31ZhHhWUKYnFOl3BQjwX9DUuBZpQt78M_krOayP-vtOBi5X3kJcD9lMf_8pmB7ecBRNidWyEH27I9xMv7Z4G1e5ySirEOg/s400/Publication1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365970854814147794" />
Motor neurone disease is a progressive neurological disease. MND affects approximately 1300 people in Australia and thousands more - their carers, families and friends - live daily with its impact. On average every day in Australia at least one person dies from MND and another is diagnosed.

Motor neurone disease often begins with weakness of the muscles of the hands or feet. It eventually leads to generalised paralysis. People with motor neurone disease need help with daily activities and have a life expectancy of three to five years after their diagnosis.

At present there is no cure for Motor Neurone Disease.

For more details or if you would like to join us for a fantastic day email me now.

For the all inclusive price of $85 you will receive:
* fantastic projects - all materials supplied
* morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea
* FREE stamp set "Great Friend" from the current Spring Mini Catalogue
* prizes and surprises

Numbers are limited so places will be allocated on a first come first served basis, payment is required with your booking.

Please come and join us - you will have a ball.Jane Norrishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11729952567436299570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3332305726094781553.post-15342241082218384622009-08-03T14:54:00.005+10:002009-08-03T15:22:08.632+10:00Kokoda Challenge 2009<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh98x6A3GTiLgQdTAERT0-bN4qb8s02KUncaM-ID_-pc5GVbaDZe_x5tqwcEyo6VGrMBzKGz-fdGCLAPK25IXQvYhmM7_u4cgXFqP-GSEG0tEnv6P6KMWmpgvLC3q_aGcLcBYpsQQzHYqQ/s320/P1000616+-+Copy.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365599700233450082" /> Blake again took part in the Kokoda Challenge this year. After being part of the winning St Andrews school team for the last 2 years, it was a greater challenge this year having to compete as an adult. Blake joined the ANZ bank team this year and the guys, Simon, Warren and Geoff finished in an amazing time of 17hours and 7 minutes. This made them 1st Business Team finished and 3rd team overall, an amazing achievement. The team looking fresh and eager at the start. It is always very cold in Mudgeeraba at 7am when they start but it warmed up quite a bit during the day and many of the competitors had problems with cramps because it was so warm.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 314px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgASXMDfgjJn7EnUdw5BmV6tgVwPuFcQzGFh7CTi-BvrVzSw4KYxfyPNK09A8qyOXktYgFcliLjFIRrJRAThGle8t3X_on3HU2olYxqANqnV91SLXOhHp3jAUDHefR12Jasui9GLhOYie8/s320/P1000647+-+Copy.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365600436348663858" /> Is was freezing again when they finished just after midnight but not as cold as it has been on previous years. They were back on the Sunday afternoon for the presentation and there were many teams still coming through the finish.

The event was designed to reflect the key elements of the Spirit of Kokoda - ENDURANCE, SACRIFICE, COURAGE and MATESHIP - with 96km representing the actual distance of the Kokoda Track and the 39 hours they are given to complete the course symbolising the 39th Militia who were the first of our Australian troops to arrive at Kokoda on 15th July 1942.

The four person teams are required to advance through 14 checkpoints to the finish line. At designated checkpoints teams are able to take a break and regroup with the help of their support crew. All four team members much finish the challenge to be eligible for the awards.

Congratulations to Mr Ryan Martin and the St Andrews Lutheran College school team who took out the Stan Bissett Cup for the first school team home for the 3rd year running.Jane Norrishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11729952567436299570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3332305726094781553.post-19298133659234843192009-08-03T14:12:00.012+10:002009-08-03T14:53:41.302+10:00So what else have I been up to?<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihh3aegL5StRKN0jm9D99eDDM-PYtA_dm6s7vRUZBm-RhYMDlhvVRlbhVMhnVRKdI9higSdD5PR8W1npjlUTGguS3O46wYqYR_r9dWclJDctcO_rPHT_hLkjwPCydr9O7wYDUGX8z-mws/s320/Jane+Jean+Leigh+Karen.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365592255661295458" /> Looking back through the pictures on my camera - heaps!
In May this year I went the the Stampin' Up! Convention in Canberra and had a ball. Big thanks to Leigh (my roommate), Jean and Karen for putting up with me. Also like to say Hi to my upline Venessa who surprised me by being there as I didn't think she could make it, all the other lovely Brissie demos I caught up with and all the new friends I made. From left to right in the picture are Leigh, Jean, me (the midget) and Karen.

I made nearly 100 swaps to take to convention with me and they were all swapped out on the Friday. I received some fabulous swaps back, the standards were so high and the ideas amazing. These were some of the cards I made.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGnEYVcWNbGw-O9-vo3WCVRDgs9LuiQRKApWk8ZGPTS7NPNC07Saw2wV2C7EvAWl9h7s1QSqIfdlY3FZBrnMd6sppLj71341bDnRkdCkEh9kqkKtrfnjv6EH37Mpmxgb_aeJs8Eqh-bEA/s200/Jane's+Camera+179.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365593420578324098" /> <img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPYlHzOt6hcCvJMpt-r4sco5h2NB7zTLJgs3NlPI9UaObYfL7hBhF_X72IxXw7k2-cuJl5uKZ5uuvf981XJGqHYj_0XXPag8662iYY0u5OWiKnmEyHTH3qhV4pdV-GoBfltIuJ_QBTMX4/s200/Jane's+Camera+178.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365593292098154418" /> <img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_6KXsgwuhxvYoNC2oXqwsr3bJfDk3zwMCDSllUrfJGdd4VbU7HRQtwUUGhvyMf7NmJMECoir31ufWJGdTuTMgdO6tV2at54PLzbCC6IFNQBFfPWbBc9mA6LJXjJl7Aj6H6QsE9pihAiA/s200/Jane's+Camera+176.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365593175728814274" /> <img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4hpCvQhLQGhjjBoZAvvU5yjaWw6dkoQqBr2PlzXWELP7PtLH_8M-kTBHAVNmiAdzIZsZTlLVBmLRNduDccTXory5luQ8qzCgEPxLV6L6ArtOQSm9gtl3pyjtprKeuLXyVvLK_CFttQDc/s200/Jane's+Camera+174.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365593065748616050" />

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 286px; height: 194px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUkV834j-eQvHvTh0AvCTv7iQpmZeaOPh3co6NYJfJXWkwBFfFMxB8ee4fHoAg3uEB1_eYcb2irma8rkouc-xIQf5cZsR1AcGXrKuhBG6moNOj0avNLLxgirOd37QsR205NOsaijo4ijU/s320/Jane's+Camera+156+-+Copy.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365594922739594450" />
I also managed to catch up with my lovely friend Elaine Hannam from Tasmania. Mackenzie and his brother Dougal are good friends with my son, Blake and it hit us and the whole community very badly. One thing you are never prepared for is the death of a child and this being so sudden and so tragic, just took the wind out of our sails. I totally re-evaluated my life and suddenly the things that used to seem so important became very insignificant.

Then on top of that I smashed my car up quite badly on Christmas Eve, Luckily the only thing that was hurt was my pride.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuq5LjvAHmvIl5KzfOu6NFPklm-AVX93M-UrBoF4SiaADwkS1SrQibPg7ptc5TB4AeMievWDGPaKl9o3NrejbwOsrxKK10CcCeOQ9tDSEqR5f9UKxvm7aUqFj2g5j9av5jlR_fClGDrkM/s200/New+Camera+013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314746207370837698" /> So, huge thanks to my friends and family who supported us during this horror time. Mackenzie's family are taking each day at a time and slowly learning to live with their loss. At times like this you feel very helpless but the one thing I could do was make some sympathy thank you cards for the family to send out and this is what I came up with, some were in this colour and others in shades of blue. I ended up making 275 of these and would like to thank the girls at stamp group who helped me put the last lot together.Jane Norrishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11729952567436299570noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3332305726094781553.post-47000540258036242232008-11-02T21:11:00.003+10:002008-11-02T21:15:34.228+10:00Shoes & Chocolate - Heaven!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 178px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwL3a_PnHFCbDhBnxt78OxT2UG1jeDIhbG93s0SZgpK2ucpG1a72Dz-6z2gKsynYNKj_fj6lHMVpE4aNu41DTqqRRjNWkdZeFRjenXRGcnx-ORsRVFOHiAq9XFk9mr2wsoQC0m_x3QVsI/s200/New+Camera+108.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5264016398296345682" />
How cute are these little shoes, filled with chocolate. Punching out all the tag frames takes a while........lol But the effect is well worth it. This was an exceptional time for a team of year 11 students and won them the Stan Bissett Cup for first complete school team home.

This year as more mature Year 12 students their aim was to complete the course again but hopefully with a faster time. For once I spent a lot less time chatting and actually got heaps done. Thanks Venessa, Liz and Lisa for sharing your room, your chocolate and lots of laughs with me. There was a picture of us at the pyjama party but I don't think that needs to be posted here - bit frightening!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ6PRvIrtZ9SLc1BUO19JUVOI-fp4IHJiEjxVgu0nLoFjVwi98ZqxlJEQuYxKks3_jtzuarIhFxBncVBUP_JqzJld3lKt9D3zsrHmI3cM_sCvhGBRDuGpnO-cPIgx4qYfKnKRrM5o7lIU/s320/Card1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5217244532819079570" />

So here are the cards I made.......

We were given a bag of papers, ribbons and other embellishments which we could make cards with. I ended up making two.....

This one which uses some of the DS paper we were given which I made a little pin wheel flower out of.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4TDOh6XjkWZP7T9toY7BwVJj1HQbEKJ7dV8lf35TV3zXct4j9__Osgvz6kx1eIevipjZ3TpRQgq6URSyVbLbXR8ua8zyFfv2RnbOsn7JoDMIhQKRRhQD3tPg6blH77FnKSWj2zZsWMrE/s320/Card2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5217244824666079042" />
And this one where I used the Fishy Friends stamps. It was a challenge to me to use these bright colours as I usually use more muted colours.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn8mIZOFjNq4Z-KpOiptsqBbUTF2-C__dK5Sg9d0Z5C65f8SoJx9sA8J6vkUZmhW0mPyfKjaukh3c8vqQprBAKTlzxpBrzxcuh4XVZGpxKO8scBjI8c4AuzYpuDgG67t1HurRQBrA_OoM/s320/Card5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5217245624212439218" />

Then I had some cards to make for an online swap and got 10 of these made up. Using the River Rock Cardstock, Le Jardin double sided papers, a piece of the River Rock ribbon and my paper piercer to make the holes for some faux stitching. Then I used the Carte Postale stamp set to stamp on the patterned papers and the sentiment which I mounted up using the oval punch.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzRf0pKdOHK0YJKXCF_WHxjc4laD9Ca3z4FWC-6ypfMDAZSMlXi-w9q6xBuvnWCIOd8c7AetGveyZTB4vbwGmJwcOm5YizAURFcuRIVEr2DAYNNmCRpck-AkM_AQDMqJm_6S78oMBAn24/s320/Card7.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5217248183059841362" />

Then we made some bags from the brown paper packing which is used for the Stampin' Up! orders. I think this was demoed at the Stampin' Up! convention but being as I didn't go, some of the girls that did go were kind enough to show us how to make them up - very easy. I decorated mine using the En Francais background stamp with the flower from Heartfelt Thanks.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifl73FczmGvvVz6mB1Q7mDsiVXC7E89SN5EX9DK4_ZuyfTKvqqJ3Jed15BkTBnRI-4_FPf1q8XMSx8unn4defMrsPevK54Ck-igCjZpZXZpap-3rCEQBPvFwlINkH09CtXcNdRC_UIPnE/s320/Card4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5217248985041131538" />

And finally, for this post anyway, I made a set of cards using the wax crayon technique with the Palette of Prints papers and Life Definitions stamp set. One of the girls at camp had written up the measurements for the card folder so I had to try it out - didn't I? Used the Petal Prints stamps for this set.Jane Norrishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11729952567436299570noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3332305726094781553.post-86272411049833859842008-05-06T10:33:00.000+10:002008-05-05T17:33:39.061+10:00Pennant of Friends<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgetu1U97DN3X0nFhNOpQZoCDKUC3uTJ_artFJPR0eNI9adubYaxHRCZcizVmBfoVzYjT4qZhswLddnNTnA0Ohnm3T0P_DGPCaQEKpevyzR7G7aghMAUriyhGzsbl-ofoxcxjNtAk56xpg/s320/001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5196791704799701026" />I spent a lovely day a couple of weeks ago with Bethel, Jean and Louise catching up, drinking tea, eating fabulous food and making this beautiful pennant. I am not great at needlecrafts by any stretch of the imagination and I thought this was going to be a bit of a challenge when I first saw it, but Bethel had everything so organised and I had such fun making this little memento of our day, with the photo of the four of us on it. We each made one and I know Bethel's is up on her blog and I'm sure Jean will have hers up very soon. Is there no end to our talents?Jane Norrishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11729952567436299570noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3332305726094781553.post-4411797623132711832008-03-27T14:50:00.000+10:002008-03-26T21:58:39.900+10:00I am a Stampin' Up! I joined up in January and have been so busy ever since, making sample cards and organising demos and workshops it has been great. I have met some lovely new people, (Hi to the Venessa and the Brissy Demos) both online and in person which has also been fun. Stampin' Up! are having their annual convention here in Brisbane next month which I sadly won't be going to as I think I am maybe too new at this at this stage to get enough out of it, but I plan to be there next year - wherever it is.

It has been a great time to join Stampin' Up! The old catalogue is finishing at the end of this month, as is the Summer Mini Catalogue and the new catalogue which I already have in my grubby little hands is just fabulous. There are so many great new stamp sets, punches, rub-ons, loads of bling...... I could go on for hours. My initial wish list is so long I would have to add it on to the mortgage if I bought all those goodies, so I will have to cull it to a more reasonable quantity and be patient. Everything comes to those who wait (what nutbag said that).

The picture above is of a card I demoed at a recent stamp camp, it is my version of a beautiful card originally made by Trish Myers, thanks Trish. Sadly the stamps used in this card are retiring at the end of March which is devastating for me as they were my favourites. Never mind I'll have to buy some new favourites.....lolJane Norrishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11729952567436299570noreply@blogger.com2
